On March 15, the National Bureau of statistics released data on retail sales of social consumer goods from January to February 2021. The data showed that the national online retail sales from January to February reached 1758.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 32.5%, and an average increase of 13.3% in two years.

According to the data, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 6973.7 billion yuan, up 33.8% year-on-year, 6.4% higher than January February 2019, and the average growth rate in two years is 3.2%. After deducting the price factor, the total retail sales of consumer goods will increase by 34.3% from January to February in 2021, with an average increase of 1.2% in two years.

It is worth mentioning that in terms of e-commerce retail, the online retail sales volume from January to February reached 1758.7 billion yuan. Among them, the online retail sales of physical goods amounted to 1441.2 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 30.6%, an average increase of 16.0% in the two years, accounting for 20.7% of the total retail sales of consumer goods; among the online retail sales of physical goods, food, clothing and consumer goods increased by 41.6%, 44.3% and 25.1% respectively, with an average increase of 33.8%, 8.7% and 16.0% in the two years.

In addition, according to the location of business units, from January to February, the retail sales of urban consumer goods were 605.2 billion yuan, up 34.9% year-on-year and 3.4% in two years; the retail sales of rural consumer goods were 918.5 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 26.7% and an average growth of 1.3% in two years.

In terms of consumption types, from January to February, the retail sales of commodities reached 6265.1 billion yuan, an increase of 30.7% year-on-year, and an average growth of 3.8% in two years. The catering income was 708.5 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 68.9% and an average decrease of 2.0% in two years.
